Obituary for Agnes Lorene Wilson

Agnes Lorene  Wilson

Mrs. Agnes Lorene (Hagar) Wilson of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, February 1, 2021 at her home, at the age of 101. She was born December 28, 1919 in Jackson County, the daughter of Claude Lee and Nettie (Coble) Hagar. On August 6, 1938, Miss Agnes Wilson was wed to Mr. Gus Wilson, and together they spent 68 years.
Mrs. Wilson spent several years working as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at Leisure Acres, and was a member of the Airbase Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, and loved to play piano and sing. Most important to her was the time she spent raising her children and grandchildren, and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Gus Wilson; two sons, Carl Lynn Wilson and Glenn Wilson; one brother, Leedane Hagar; two sisters, Alma Holt and Irene Ponder; one grandson, Isaac Williams; and her parents.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by two sons, Billy Dewayne Wilson and wife, Michelle, of Bartlett, Tennessee, and Michael Ned Wilson of Newport; one daughter, Betty Ann Vines Ragsdale and husband, John, of Malvern; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Wilson of Newport; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; twenty great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Carl Dewayne Wilson, Perry Wilson, Mark Wilson, Jeremy Wilson, Gavin Wilson, Randy Ivie, and Mark Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Honey, Will Honey, and Timmy Wilson.
