Obituary for Ashley Redd

Mr. Ashley Allen Redd of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at the age of 50. He was born October 20, 1971 in Newport.

Ashley was a graduate of Swifton High School, and a truck driver for C&B Trucking. Over the years, he had worked for Riceland Foods, JWK Hauling, and on Hunter Farms. On June 4, 2005, Ashley married Miss Adessa Popejoy, and together they enjoyed 17 years.

Ashley enjoyed building and flying radio controlled airplanes, and riding ATVs and motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Eugene Redd; his maternal grandparents, Herman and Dora Hunter; paternal grandmother, Elsie Jungers; and his paternal grandfather, Johnny Redd.

Ashley is survived by his wife of 17 years, Adessa (Popejoy) Redd of the home; two daughters, Zipporah Popejoy and husband, Ridge Utley of Walnut Ridge, Emily Redd of Newport; his mother, Patricia (Hunter) Scott and, Charles, of Newport; two sisters, Tammy Long and husband, Joey of Harrisburg, and Charlotte Scott of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Payton Popejoy of Walnut Ridge, Reed Utley of Walnut Ridge; his aunt, Linda Walker of Newport; his uncle, David Hunter of Jonesboro; many nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Dowell’s Chapel Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Edward Popejoy, Ridge Utley, A.J. Kelly, Tommy Redd, Robert Redd, and Joshua Redd. Honorary pallbearers are David Hunter, Chris Collins, Jonathan Runsick, Michael Anderson, Gary Hopkins, Carol Higgins, Dewayne Walker, John Walker, Greg King, Derek White, Brad Beard, Richie Jones, Tyler Nelson, Brandon Shelby.
