Obituary for Betty Shipley

Betty  Shipley
Betty Sue (Clark) Shipley of Elgin, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at her home, at the age of 76. She was born October 10, 1945 at Hope, Arkansas, the daughter of James Herbert and Grace (Burt) Clark.
She was the Secretary at Tuckerman High School for 40 years, where she was lovingly called “Miss Betty” by the students. She retired in 2012.
Miss Betty lost the love of her life – Freddy Leman Shipley in 2017 after 54 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by Mr. Freddy; her parents; three brothers, Bud Clark, Jimmy Clark, and Donald Clark; and two sisters, Nell Mayhan and Polly Stoner.
Miss Betty is survived by her two children, Freddy Randall “Randy” Shipley and wife, Jennie, and Lori Lynn Winemiller, both of Elgin; two beloved grandsons, William Freddy Shipley of Boston, and David Randall Shipley of Batesville; two brothers, David Clark of Newport, and Bobby Clark of Jonesboro; one sister, Brenda Pipkin of Newark; several nieces and nephews; all the students she loved and nurtured at Tuckerman High School; and a lifetime of friends.
Memorial services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brandon Gates officiating, and Mr. Jeff Doyle speaking. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Saturday 1:00 p.m. until service.
