Obituary for Betty Tate
Mrs. Betty Tate of Jonesboro, AR, passed peacefully away at the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Thursday, December 31, 2020 at the age of 80. She was born January 26, 1940 in Lafe, Arkansas to Lloyd and Jessie (Powers) Horton.
After graduation from Grubbs High School 1957 she married Donald Tate, they spent many happy years together raising their three children.
Betty had a career as a sales lady that spanned many years with Sears. She was of the Baptist faith.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Donald Tate, siblings Carroll Horton, Rachel Witherington and Barbara Riley, and son in law, Jim Farmer.
She is survived by her children, Tammy Farmer of Jonesboro, Donna and Jeff Hohn of Midway, Shane Tate of Pennington; three grandchildren, Natalie Hohn and, Joey, of Newport, Derek and Brittany Osborn of Jonesboro, Lacy and husband, Dr. Jason Gates, of Newport; two great granddaughters, Willa Addington of Newport and Ava Gates of Newport; nephew, Mickey Riley of Tuckerman and niece, Susan Riley of Tuckerman; special cousin, Frankie Ann Coots of New Holstein, Wisconsin.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Shane Tate, Jeff Tate, Derek Osborn, Lewis Osborn, Dr. Jason Gates, and Joey Haney.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Andy Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday 10:00 a.m. until service time.
