Obituary for Bob Stoner, Sr.

Bob  Stoner, Sr.
Mr. Bob Stoner, Sr., of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the age of 85. He was born July 21, 1935 at Pond Switch, Arkansas, the son of Sidney Oliver, Sr., and Tennessee Virginia (Cook) Stoner.
Mr. Stoner graduated from Tuckerman High School at the age of 16. On July 10, 1953 Mr. Bob Stoner married Miss Mildred “Millie” (Gates) Stoner, and together they built their life in Tuckerman, where they raised their three children.
He worked in customer service at Revere Copper & Brass, later becoming Department Supervisor for Norandal, where he worked over 30 years. Mr. Stoner served four years on the Jackson County Economic Development Counsel, and owned and operated BBT Tamales in Jackson County.
Mr. Stoner enjoyed spending time on his ranch, “The Kickback Ranch”, playing golf, bowling, and watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball. He was a family man, who had loved teaching and coaching his son’s baseball teams, and making memories with his family. Mr. Stoner knew no greater joy in life than loving and taking care of his family.
He was a member of the Tuckerman First Baptist Church over 50 years. He served the church as a Deacon, song leader, and Bible study teacher.
Mr. Stoner was preceded in death by three brothers, Sidney Oliver Stoner, Jr. Parnell “Bud” Stoner, and Larry Rhett Stoner; three sisters, Norma Jean McGough, Katherine “Kat” Oliver, and Betty Roberts; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mildred “Millie” Stoner of the home; one son, Bob “Butch” Lynn Stoner, Jr., and wife, Kathy of Conway; two daughters, Mitzi Milligan and husband, Bobby, of Tuckerman, and Sherry Jones and husband, (Tony) of Tuckerman; five grandchildren, Amanda “Amie” Bryant and husband, Jonathan, Jason Milligan, Cody Sharp and wife, Katye, Halley Frerichs and husband Jon, and Sydney Stoner Shelton and husband, Austin; five great grandchildren, Jayce, Jiles, Cooper, Campbell, and Rylan; his brother-in-law, Hugh McGough of Bonner Springs, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Velva Stoner of Little Rock; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday, 12:30- 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Bro. Dwight Turner and Bro. Brandon Gates officiating.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are David Dixon, Eddie Green, Stan Crabb, Leslie HArtsell, Jon Frerichs, and Austin Shelton. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and R.L. Henderson.
