Obituary for Carolyn Whitehead

Mrs. Carolyn (Reynolds) Whitehead of Augusta, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at the age of 77. She was born July 17, 1944 in Beedeville, the daughter of Tommie Joe and Hepzabah Vivan (Myrick) Reynolds.
Mrs. Whitehead was a graduate of Beedeville High School, and spent her years working as an interviewer for the Employment Security Division, and a housing coordinator for Jackson County.
On August 5, 1963, Miss Carolyn Reynolds was married to Mr. Floyd Benjamin Whitehead, and together they spent 58 years.
Mrs. Whitehead was an excellent seamstress who owned two sewing stores, AC Fabrics and Carolyn’s Stitch & Sew. She loved growing flowers, and enjoyed cooking, especially making fried pies, candy, and chocolate gravy. She taught herself to use a computer. More than anything, Mrs. Whitehead loved helping other people.
She was a member of the Augusta Church of Christ.
Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by one half-brother, Delbert Lynn Birkhead; one sister, Peggy O’Neil Bise; one half-sister, Laura Lodean Wolfe; close friend, Fran Moore, and her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Floyd Whitehead of the home; two sons, Keith Dewayne Whitehead and wife, Babs, of Hindsville, Arkansas, and Kevin Floyd Whitehead and wife, Michelle of McCrory; one sister, Delsa Faye Houston of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Kendyl Dawn Tinsley and husband, R.J. of Mountain Home, Saxon Keith Whitehead and wife, Angela of North Little Rock, Chase Whitehead and Hayden of McCrory, and Carli Whitehead of McCrory; her very best friends, Lucy Holler and Tiffany Ellis.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home.
