Carroll Wayne Wilson departed this life on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born on January 27, 1941 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to Daisy Wilson.

Carroll was retired at the time of his passing, but he was a successful business owner and entrepreneur for most of his life. With his wife Jeanette, he owned and operated the Hungry Man Restaurant in Newport for over 35 years. In that time, Carroll was so proud to be able to serve the people of Jackson County, and he loved getting to sit and talk with members of the community at his front table. He always said, “ I just want to be able to serve an honest man an honest meal at an honest price.” In addition to the restaurant, Carroll and Jeanette operated many other businesses around Jackson County – including Carroll’s Super Foods in Tuckerman and downtown Newport. But Carroll never let work get in the way of having fun with his friends and family. He loved to travel with his wife - he made friends everywhere he went and always returned with a story to tell. Carroll was a member of First Baptist Church in Newport.

Carroll loved his family more than anything. He was a wonderful Husband, Daddy, and Papoo – he worked hard every day to make sure that his family was taken care of, including his dog, Charlie. He is preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Mae (Wilson) Thorpe, his grandparents who raised him, Virgil and Eathel (Malmie) Wilson, his brother, Ray Wilson, his aunts Bulah Perrin & Dovie Harrison, his uncles Finis and Willard Wilson, his mother and father in-law Opal and Woodrow Hunt, and his brother in-law Robert Evans.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jeanette (Hunt) Wilson, one daughter, Jennifer (Wilson) Eddington and husband Jimbo of Newport, two grandsons: Jake Eddington of Newport and Jarrod and wife Madison Eddington of Tuckerman, one great-grandson who was the apple of his eye, Isaac Paul Eddington, his brother Jerry Thorpe and sister Rita (Thorpe) Downs of Illinois: his sisters in-law Joan (Hunt) Evans of Guy and Judy (Hunt) Ivie and husband Ronnie of Heber Springs, a special aunt Gracie Wilson and niece Doris Sue Holcomb of Pocahontas, the son he never had - his nephew Stephen Wilson of Newport, and a lifetime of other family and friends.

Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
