Obituary for Danny Ray Cloud

Mr. Danny Ray Cloud of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 72. He was born February 1, 1951 in Newport, the son of Archie F. and Alberta Agnes (George) Cloud.
Mr. Cloud was a 1969 graduate of Grubbs High School. During his high school tenure, he was an All-State Basketball Player for the Grubbs Bluejays. Following high school, he began working for Union Pacific Railroad. He retired there as a Conductor following 45 years of service.
Mr. Cloud was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal Fan. He enjoyed hosting his children and grandchildren at his lake house at Greers Ferry Lake.
Most importantly, he loved his family. He never missed his son’s games, and adored and spoiled his grandchildren.
Mr. Cloud was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jerry Cloud, Gary Cloud, and David A. Cloud; and three sisters, Bernice Neely, Shirlene Trotter, and Joyce Mears.
He is survived by two sons, Ryan Cloud and wife, Tiffannie of Newport, and Rodney Cloud and wife, Kori, of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Raeleigh Grey Cloud, August Miles Cloud, and Malcolm Rigley Cloud; two step-grandchildren, Matti Stevens and Sophie Staggs; two sisters, Kathryn (Cloud) Jones of Jonesboro, and Mary Lynn (Cloud) Woodruff of Lake City; the mother of his children, Kathy (Nance) Cloud of Newport; a host of nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment following in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Ryan and Rodney Cloud, Dennis Sutherland, Matt McCoy, Millard Eddington, and Barney McCoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Mears, Scott Mears, David Williams, Paul Meeks, Donald Southerland, Michael Sexton, Gary McElroy, Woody Woodruff, Bob Tom Norton, Elmer Cook, Doug McLaughlin, and Martin Thompson.
