Obituary for Donald James Molder

Donald James   Molder
Donald James Molder, 80, formerly of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday March 3, 2021 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was born April 2, 1940 in Harrisburg, Arkansas the son of Wilburn and Belle (Penna) Molder. Donald was raised in Harrisburg and graduated from Harrisburg High School with the class of 1959. His was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roscoe Hanna and one sister, Louise Pace. After graduation Donald moved to West Memphis where he met and married the love of his life in 1971, Janice LaRue Molder. During his time in West Memphis he coached a little League baseball team for ten years and served on the West Memphis Boys Club board of directors and the West Memphis Chamber of Commerce. Donald served twenty-six years in the Army National Guard where he retired as First Sergeant and received solider of the year award on two separate occasions. He also retired from Allstate Insurance as a Unit Claims manager during his career with Allstate Insurance Company he received the Chairman’s Award and Adjuster of the year two times in Tennessee and Arkansas. He was a former member of Harrisburg Rotary Club and was awarded the Rotarian of the Year Award and also served as President. Donald was a former member of the Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce where he served as President. He served eleven years on the Harrisburg City Council. Donald and Janice were members of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg and then moving to Jonesboro became active members at Cathedral Baptist Church since October 2008. He loved to fish and hunt with his grandchildren and sons as well as spending time with his wife. Donald loved a good practical joke and often plotted for days a good joke to play on someone. He is survived by his beloved wife Janice of Jonesboro, two sons: Kevin (Laura) of Harrisburg and David (Geneva) Hughes of Dallas, Texas, three grandchildren: Brandon Mitchell, Michelle Hughes, and Dylan Molder, and two great-grandchildren: Sadie Mitchell and Mia Mitchell, one sister, Catherine Tunnell of Rockwall, Texas, and a host of nieces and nephews. Bro Ken Beaver will conduct the service and the nephews will serve as Active Pallbearers. Those honored as Honorary Pallbearers are: Taylor Hunting Club and the men of Cathedral Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday, March 8, 2021 at Jackson’s Funeral Home from 12:30 until 2:00 P. M. Graveside Funeral Service will follow at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas. Those wishing to leave a lasting memorial the family’s wishes are memorials be made to Cathedral Baptist Church 2706 Alexander Dr. Jonesboro 72401 Arrangements are Jackson’s Harrisburg Funeral Home.
