Obituary for Donald Joe Mothershed
Donald Joe Mothershed of Swifton, Arkansas, departed this life on January 9, 2021, at the age of 78. He was born January 30, 1942 in Swifton, Arkansas, the son of Rex and Virgie (Terry) Mothershed.
Mr. Mothershed was a 1959 Swifton High School graduate and graduated from Arkansas State University with a degree in accounting. He was a United States Army veteran, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist belief. Mr. Mothershed was a retired accountant. He enjoyed playing pool and fishing.
Mr. Mothershed is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Lula Robinson.
He is survived by one son, Donald Winston Mothershed and wife, Tracy, of Paragould; one daughter, April Mothershed of Bland, Missouri; six grandchildren, Cody Mothershed and wife, Falisha, Devan Mothershed, Meagan Mothershed, Demaris Mothershed, Mollie Mothershed, and Drifter Taylor; seven great grandchildren, Landree, Ryker, Gideon, Amalia, Isabelle, Steven, and Bruce.
Friends may visit at the Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home, Tuesday 1:00 p.m. until 1:40 p.m. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. at Swifton Cemetery with Bill Wheeler officiating.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Joel Anderson, Smokey Runyon, and his classmates.
In lieu of flowers donations made be made to the Swifton Cemetery Association, c/o Penny Slagley, 317 Main Street, Swifton, Arkansas 72471 or Tommy Harvey (870)930-6254.
