Mrs. Donna London of Grubbs, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the age of 72. She was born November 17, 1948 in Newport, the daughter of Central Earl and Ruby Estelle (Daniels) Overfield.
On October 16, 1965, Miss Donna Overfield was married to Mr. James Thomas “Slick” London, and together they enjoyed 55 years.
Mrs. London was a graduate of Grubbs High School, and earned her nursing degree at Arkansas State University. Following graduation, she worked as a Registered Nurse for 24 years. Called the singing nurse, she was known for singing to her patients.
She enjoyed sewing, and making chicken scratch quilts. Mrs. London made family her first priority, and loved getting them together for Christmas and holiday celebrations. She was young at heart, and large in personality, bringing happiness with her wherever she went. Her family will remember her as always having fun, throwing tea parties with her granddaughters, and growing the most beautiful roses.
Mrs. London was a member of Remmel Church of Christ. As a member, she taught Sunday School, was a member of the Ladies Bible Class, and served as a mentor to John 3:17. She was dedicated to reading her Bible each and every day.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sue Greer; and one brother, Bobby Overfield; brother and sisterin-law, Boyce and Mary Alice London.
Mrs. London is survived by her husband of 55 years, James “Slick” London of the home; two sons, Greg London and wife, Gwenette, of Conway, and John Clay London of Grubbs; one daughter, Tammy London Jones and husband, Farrell, of Weiner; five brothers, Ricky Lynn Overfield of Idaho, Charles Overfield of Michigan, Donald Lloyd Overfield of Wyoming, William David Overfield of Wyoming, and Roger Neal Overfield of Balch Community, Arkansas; seven sisters, Gracie Lee Brown of Osceola, Joann Priest of Risher, Patsy Morgan of Jonesboro, Jane Higgs of Michigan, Glenda Gay Browder of Virginia, June Lloyd of Grubbs, and Sherry Trotter of Weiner; four grandchildren, Zach Jones of Weiner, Alex Jones and fiancé, Makenzie Britton of Jonesboro, Haley London of Conway, and Abigail London of Grubbs; two great-grandchildren, Weslyn Jones of Weiner, and Renleigh Marie London…who is due any day; her best friend, Beth Boyd, and her children, of Jonesboro; special friends, Peyton Craft and Adlee McDaniel; brother and sister-in law, Coy and Virginia London, of Jonesboro and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Alex Jones, Zach Jones, Corey Trotter, Daron London, Dewayne Ramsey, and Brian Anschultz. Honorary pallbearers will be The Chicks of 66, Tim London, Dwain London, Gary London, nieces and nephews.
