Obituary for Edward McClure

Mr. Edward Lynn McClure of Batesville, Arkansas, entered the gates of heaven on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born August 17, 1942, in Newark, to the late Robert Hayden and Pauline (Gibson) McClure.

Edward retired in 1998 from his business, McClure Farms. He, along with his brother, Robert, also owned McClure Equipment Company of Stuttgart for many years. Edward was active in his community, serving on the Newark City Council, and Chairing the Newark Sewer/Water and Newark Police Commissions. He was President of the Board of Treasure Lake RV Resort for several years, as well.

He loved traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and tending to his yard.

Edward was a Christian and a member of Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Edward was preceded in death by one brother, Robert McClure; and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Diane (Hoggard) McClure, of the home; one son, Eddie McClure, and wife, Susie, of Conroe, Texas; one daughter Cathy McClure of Sulphur Rock, Arkansas; two grandsons, Derek McClure of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Marcus McClure of Conroe, Texas; one granddaughter, Nancy Lynn Doughty of Sulphur Rock; one sister, Ruth Ann McClain, and husband, Jerry, of Newark; two nephews; two nieces; a host of other relatives, and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at Newark First Baptist Church on Saturday, February 4, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, with Bro. Bill Goodwin and Bro. Scott Jones officiating. Interment will be at Blue Springs Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Derek McClure, Marcus McClure, David McClain, Bobby McClure, Nancy Doughty, and Ricky Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pleasant Valley Missionary Baptist Church, Solid Rock Christian, 2545 White Drive, Batesville, AR 72501; or the charity of your choice.
