Obituary for Esther Maness

Esther  Maness
Mrs. Esther (Ahart) Maness of Newport, Arkansas, formerly of Little Rock, departed this life on Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the age of 95. She was born October 5, 1925 in Grubbs, Arkansas, the daughter of T.N. and Nola (McKee) Ahart.
Mrs. Maness spent 22 years working as a machine operator for the Timex Watch Company, retiring in 1977. She was an accomplished poet, receiving 10 poet awards, including the “Golden Award”, which was presented to her in 1989, at the Poet Convention in Washington, DC. Mrs. Maness wrote and published her autobiography, “The Autobiography of Esther Ahart Maness”. She was a gifted writer, also writing “Doctrines of the Bible and Revelations Explained”.
Mrs. Maness was preceded in death by her husband, Henry E. Maness; three brothers, J.T. Ahart, Silva Ahart, and Byrum Ahart; three sisters, Othella Turner, Eula Mae Lewis, and Ruthie Wagster; and her parents.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Joyce Ahart and Carol Ahart; several nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Watson Cemetery.
