Obituary for Gilbert Edwin Brooks
Mr. Gilbert Edwin Brooks of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, December 05, 2020, at the age of 85. He was born May 13, 1935 in Bald Knob, the son of Hillis and Mae (Smith) Brooks.
Mr. Brooks sold eggs and produce to small stores and restaurants. He was fondly called the egg man. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family. Mr. Brooks was of the Pentecostal belief.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his first wife, Azalea (Long) Brooks; his second wife, Mary Brooks; one son, David Brooks; six brothers, Paul Wesley Brooks, James Brooks, Virgil Brooks, Oliver Brooks, Luther Brooks and Floyd Brooks; two sisters, Juanita (Brooks) Tims and Margaret Owens; and his parents.
He is survived by his son, Mark Brooks of Bryant; one step-daughter, Sue; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.
Burial was held at Eight Mile Cemetery.
