Obituary for James "Eddie" Evans

James "Eddie"  Evans
Mr. James Edward “Eddie” Evans of Weiner, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, January 18, 2021, at the age of 73. He was born January 14, 1948 in Weiner, the son of Robert T. and Emmie (Austin) Evans.
Mr. Evans was a United States Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He worked for Greeno Farms, and had previously worked for Wesley Siddons Surveyor Company. Mr. Evans enjoyed listening to gospel music, and taking things apart and putting them back together. Although most of the things he took apart never got reassembled!
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Donald R. “Spider” Evans and Robert Lee Evans.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Carol Vinson Evans; four step-sons, Tyler Sitzer and wife, Wendy, of Weiner, Tony Sitzer and wife, Judy, of Weiner, Chris Sitzer of Weiner, and Charlie Sitzer of Ocala, Florida; two step-daughters, Stacy Warren of Englewood, Ohio, and Tracy Sitzer of Weiner; three grandchildren, whom he raised as his own children, Cynthia Stover and husband, Ben, Caitlin Sitzer, and Madison Sitzer, all of Weiner; one sister, Betty Hubbard and husband, Mike, of Grubbs; two brothers, Jerry Evans of Weiner, and Tommy Evans and wife, Terrie of Gila Bend, Arizona; three granddaughters, Cynthia Stover and husband, Ben, Caitlin Sitzer, and Madison Sitzer, all of Weiner; seven grandchildren, Shandi Turknett of Rogers, Krysti Sitzer of Weiner, Stevie Gosney of Weiner, Anthony Sitzer of Grubbs, Nicholas Sitzer of Weiner, Libby Pate of Weiner, and Kelton Warren of Englewood, Ohio; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home, Thursday, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Graveside services will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery (Weiner Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Tyler Sitzer, Tony Sitzer, Charlie Sitzer, Anthony Sitzer, Nicholas Sitzer, and Wesley Siddon. Honorary pallbearers are Gary Jaco, Chris Sitzer, Jerry Evans, Tommy Evans, Don Hubbard, Ty Hughes, Dennis Reid, Gerald Hutchins, Mike Hubbard, and Ben Stover.
