Obituary for Joan Hawkins Asher

Mrs. Joan (Hawkins) Asher, 82, of Trumann, Arkansas departed this life Saturday, September 24, 2022 in St. Bernard Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born November 15, 1939 the daughter of Vernon Lee Hawkins and Irene (White) Hawkins Rogers, both have preceded her in death. Joan married Mr. James Raymond Asher on November 26, 1955 and he has also preceded her in death. Joan was preceded by two sisters: Vera Jean (Hawkins) Pierce and Marlene (Hawkins) Derr and one brother, Delano G. Hawkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of Christ in Trumann. Joan enjoyed shopping, Flea Markets, and spending time with kids, grandkids, family and friends. Joan is survived by two daughters: Sandra Kay (Asher) Farmer and Patty Darlene (Asher) Cooksey both of Trumann, one sister, Jeanie Tapp of Bald Knob, Arkansas, three grandchildren: Melissa (Paul) Needham, Jeff (Randi) Farmer, and David (Jenn) Cooksey, eight great-grandchildren: Jeremy, London, Hannah, Kayla, Jenna, Dakota, Kars, and Kam, and several nieces and nephews. She will surely be missed by all. Visitation will be from 11:00 A. M. until Service Time at the Church of Christ in Trumann on Viva Drive. Mr. Joe Spangler will conduct the service. Grandsons and Nephews will serve as active pallbearers and the members of the church will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in Fisher Cemetery. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home in Harrisburg, Arkansas.
