Obituary for John E. Thompson
Mr. John Everett Thompson of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the age of 75. He was born October 22, 1946 in Newport, the son of Everett Forest and Emogene (Jones) Thompson, Jr.
Mr. Thompson was a retired construction worker. He married Miss Alline Carpenter on June 29, 1968, and together they shared almost 54 years of marriage. He enjoyed squirrel hunting and fishing. He had a very dry sense of humor. Mr. Thompson was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the Murphy’s Corner Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Alline (Carpenter) Thompson of Newport; one daughter, Tonia Thompson Hutchinson and Michael Brumley of Newport; one granddaughter, Kaelin Hutchinson Garcia and husband, Edgar of Newport; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Marcu Grady, Mark Grady, Jacob Grady, Wade Smith, Christian Smith, and Edgar Garcia.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Drew Hibbetts officiating. Interment will be in Watson Cemetery.
