Obituary for Karen Hutchins

Karen  Hutchins
Mrs. Karen Kay (Blalock) Hutchins of Newport, formerly of Pitts, departed this life on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at the age of 73. She was born January 2, 1950 in Newport, the daughter of Nelson and Dorothy Julia (Wheaton) Blalock.

Mrs. Hutchins was a graduate of Grubbs High School. She was a loving caregiver, and very proud of being an LPN. In 1985, she was named LPN of the Year for her dedication to her patients.

Mrs. Hutchins enjoyed cooking, traveling, raising her dogs and cats, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Hutchins; one son, Michael B. Lewis; one brother, James Blalock; one great-grandson, Onyx Ledger Lewis; and her parents.

Mrs. Hutchins is survived by one son, Billy M. “Mitch” Lewis of Harrisburg; three grandchildren, Billy M. “Trae” Lewis, III and wife, Dariane of Jonesboro, Michael “Blaine” Lewis, II of Hunter, and Hunter LaurenLewis Reddmann and husband, Cale of Harrisburg; three great-grandchildren, Otto Lewis, Neely Reddmann, and Rowan Reddmann; two brothers, Leslie Wayne Blalock and wife, Faye of Malden, Missouri, and Darrell L. Blalock and wife, Debbie of Walnut Ridge; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.

Friends may visit at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home, Friday, 10:00 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will follow in the Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Hunter Cemetery.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Mitch Lewis, Trae Lewis, Blaine Lewis, and Cale Reddmann. Brenda O’Hara will be an honorary pallbearer.
