Obituary for Kathy Smith

Kathy Smith
Mrs. Kathy Gail (Sharp) Smith of Newport, Arkansas departed this life on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at the age of 58. She was born September 16, 1962 in Newport, the daughter of Franklin “Bo” and Helen Aliene (Douglas) Sharp.
Kathy was a 1981 graduate of Tuckerman High School. On November 20, 1981, Miss Kathy Sharp was married to Mr. Danny Ray Smith, and together they spent 29 years.
She worked many years as a CNA at Regional Nursing Home, and was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church.
Kathy was an avid Arkansas Razorback and St. Louis Cardinal fan, and loved camping and spending time on the lake.
Her greatest joy in life came from time spent with her family. She was like a grandmother to her great nieces and nephews, and looked forward to becoming a grandmother herself. Kathy had a gentle way about her, and was one of the kindest, most loving people anyone could hope to know.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Danny Ray Smith in 2010; her parents; and her father-in-law, Richard Smith.
Kathy is survived by her two sons, Richard Shane Smith and wife, Amelia, of Newport, and Franklin Corey Smith of Tuckerman; one brother, Robert Franklin “Bobby” Sharp of Atkins; two sisters, Karen Anderson and husband, David, of Diaz, and Karla Stoner of Newport; her mother-in-law, Faye Smith of Tuckerman; her nieces and nephews, Bryon Anderson, Michael Anderson, Brook Scoggins, Kase Sharp, Meredith Stricklin, Cody Sharp, Katy Warren, Michael Smith, Ricky Smith, Courtney Smith, and Haley Smith; her great-nieces and nephews, Ethan, Landon, Dustyn, and Whitney Anderson, Abby, Avery, and Ally Scoggins, and Isaiah, Ezra, Aaron, and Asher Warren, and Arianna Falwell; her beloved dog and constant companion, Tanner; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Taylor and Bro. Vance Penn officiating. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Rickey Gardner, Brad Hutchinson, Anthony Gates, Bryon Anderson, Michael Anderson, and Dustin Warren. Her nieces and nephews are honorary pallbearers.
