Lena  Manuel
Mrs. Lena (Honey) Manuel of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at the age of 83. She was born September2, 1937 in Newport, the daughter of Marvin Sanford and Gertrude Artis (Brown) Honey.
Mrs. Manuel was a 1957 graduate of Newport High School, and worked at American Lantern until her retirement. She volunteered as a “Pink Lady” with Unity Health Auxiliary, and enjoyed painting, monogramming, traveling, and sewing. Mrs. Manuel’s greatest joy was time spent with her family, and she loved attending her children and grand-children’s sporting events. She was a member of the Holden Avenue Church of Christ.
Mrs. Manuel was preceded in death by her husband, Cledas Lee Manuel; two sisters, Norma Jean Chatman and Shirley Ann Hunthrop.
She is survived by one son, Cledas “Bubby” Manuel and wife, Dana, of Nixa, Missouri; two daughters, Margaret Goodman and husband, Jimmy “Muggs” of Newport, and Denice Zornow and husband, Ken, of Memphis; two brothers, Harold Honey of Bartlett, Tennessee and Dale Honey and wife, Margie, of Newport; two sisters, Marie Henderson and husband, Ken, of Founding Mills, Virginia, and Betty Johnson of Drasco, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Gary Goodman and wife, Donna, of Melbourne, Maisie Manuel of Rogers, and Channing Manuel of Nixa, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Marty Goodman, Taylor Goodman, and Avery Goodman; one great-great granddaughter, Rylan Grace White; her special friends, Virginia Austin and Sue Smith; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Friday, 5:00-7:00 p.m. Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Ballew’s Chapel Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Gary Goodman, Griffin Johnson, Brad Moody, Mary Goodman, Jackie Johnson, Dean Miller, and Gentry Moody. Honorary pallbearers are Channing Manuel, Taylor Goodman Weaver, Rylan White, Maisie Manuel, Avery Goodman, and members of the Unity Health Auxiliary.
