Obituary for Lougene A. Ridley


Mrs. Lougene A. Ridley of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Monday, May 3, 2021, at the age of 97. She was born December 22, 1923 at the Battle Axe Community of Tuckerman.
Mrs. Ridley was a homemaker, and a devoted member of St. Paul’s AME. She enjoyed going to the Everett King Senior Citizen’s Center, and attending Church and the Flower Club. Mrs. Ridley especially loved quilting, canning, and cooking for her family.
She was preceded in death by one son, Owen Porter, Jr.; three daughters, Thelma Jones, Amanda Balentine, and Iola Jo Porter; three brothers, Troy Ridley, Willie Neal Crow, and Robert Leonard Bush.
Mrs. Ridley is survived by six sons, Charles Porter, Sr., and wife, Glenda of Hot Springs, Sam Porter and wife, Barsha, of Tuckerman, Henry Porter of Tuckerman, Shadrach Porter of Tuckerman, Tom Porter of St. Louis, and Archie Porter and wife, Sarah, of Memphis; two daughters, Mary Ridley of Maumelle, and Nancy Porter of Memphis; twenty two grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren; a special cousin, Robert Ridley of Tuckeman; special niece and nephews, Velma Crow of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Noble Atkins of Los Angeles, California; and many other family and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Saturday, May 8, 2021, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Clark officiating.
