Lucian  Simmons, Jr.

Mr. Lucian “Dub” Simmons, Jr., of Batesville, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at the age of 82. He was born September 14, 1938 in Newport, the son of Lucian Simmons, Sr., and Lois M. (Hankins) Simmons.
Mr. Simmons was an alumni of Lyon College . He was a United States veteran, serving a total of 27 years in the service, including a tour in Vietnam. His military career took him through three branches of military, the Army, the Navy, and ended when he retired from the Air Force. Mr. Simmons was proud to have served his country, and to be a veteran.
During his time in the service, he traveled the world. Upon retirement, Mr. Simmons enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by two brothers, Kennedy Simmons and Franklin “Bud” Simmons; two sisters, Frances Lewandowski and Millicient “Millie” Lynn; and his parents.
He is survived by four brothers, Gerald Simmons and wife, Caroline of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Robert Andy Simmons of Salado, Deedry Simmons of Newport, and James Simmons and wife, Janet, of Searcy; one sister, Judy Simmons of Newport; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Arkansas State Veteran’s Cemetery at Birdeye.
