Obituary for Mary Henley


Mrs. Mary Ann (Roberts) Henley of Tuckerman, Arkansas, departed this life on Saturday, March 6, 2021, 5 short days after her husband passed away. She was born July 19, 1948 in Newport, the daughter of Juna and Lela (Adams) Roberts. On April 5, 1967, she and Jimmy Harold Henley were married.
Mrs. Henley was a 1966 graduate of Newport High School. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Henley enjoyed reading her Bible, singing church hymns, playing bingo, and drinking her coffee. She was also a fan of game shows, soap operas, and Little House on the Prairie.
A loving mother, her joy came from time spent with her children and grandchildren. She considered raising her children her greatest accomplishment.
Mrs. Henley was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Jimmy Harold Henley; two grandchildren, Jacob Geaslin and Matthew Tubbs; and her parents.
She is survived by her children, Melinda Geaslin and husband, Terry, of Newport, Lela Adams and husband, Mark, of Paragould, Jimmy H. Henley II, of Tuckerman, Cassandra Tubbs and husband, Nicholas of Tuckerman, and Amanda Hendricks and husband, George, of Tuckerman; two brothers, Dale Roberts and wife, Peggy of Campbell Station, and Donald Roberts and wife, Maude, of Newport; two sisters, Cathy Ponder and husband, Don, of Newport, and Linda Hembrey and husband, Richard of Newport; sixteen grandchildren, Tara Guth, Wesley Geaslin, Patrick Green, Cameron Lee, Ian Adams, Dylan Henley, Taylor Henley, Mackenzie Elizabeth Henley (who was born on Mrs. Henley’s 54th birthday. She often said this was the best birthday present of her life.), Madelynn Tubbs, Makon Tubbs, Madden Tubbs, Makadyn Tubbs, Mia Tubbs, Shelby Hendricks, Sydney Hendicks, and Hudson Hendricks; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Guth, Jaxon Guth, Chloe Guth, Little Wesley Geaslin, Willow Geaslin, and Theo Green.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Tuesday evening, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Gracelawn Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy Henley, II, Patrick Green, Cameron Lee, Dylan Henley, Taylor Henley, Nicholas Tubbs, and Wesley Geaslin; honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her two brothers, Dale Roberts and Donald Roberts.
