Obituary for Michael Ridley

Michael Ridley
Before my ending, there was a beginning. Michael Lynn Ridley was born June 22, 1966 in Tuckerman, Arkansas.

Growing up he enjoyed life to the fullest surrounded by a loving family on the farm. Michael was baptized at an early age at St. Paul AME church and a current member New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR.

Upon completing Tuckerman High School in 1984, he furthered his education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1988 with honors. But he didn’t stop there! Michael continued to excel by obtaining a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

He utilized his education as he served the Little Rock community at the Veteran’s Hospital. Michael received several honors and recognition for his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the field of social work.

An avid reader, Michael especially enjoyed studying anything related to vehicles.

He gently closed his eyes on Sunday, October 30, 2022. God said he was getting weary, so, He did what He thought was best. He came and stood by my bedside and whispered, “Come and Rest”, Michael gave no warning not even a good-bye. He is at rest, so cry, but not for long, it will get a little easier as time goes on.

Although he left behind his dear mother, Mary Ridley; two god sisters, Eloise Nelson and Shirley Mosley; dear friends, Lynn Hemphill and Marvin Bracy; six uncles, Charles Porter (Glenda), Sam Porter (Barsha), Henry Porter, Shadrach Porter, Tom Porter, and Archie Porter (Sarah); and one aunt, Nancy Porter, and a host of cousins and other relatives, and a lifetime of friends, Michael will now reunite with his grandmother Lougene Ridley, who he affectionately called Momma; and his aunt Thelma Porter Jones, and uncle, Owen A. Porter.

“If you could just see me now, I have no more pains, discomforts or fears, for I am with God, please dry your tears; I am at peace. I love you all so very much. This is what I want you to do, put God first in your lives, and I certainly will be seeing you.” ~Michael~

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Odd Fellow Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home, Saturday morning 10:00 a.m. until service.
