Obituary for Michael Wood

Michael  Wood
Mr. David Michael Wood of Tupelo, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, December 01, 2020, at the age of 70. He was born September 17, 1950, the son of James and Betty (Hurst) Wood.
Michael was a lifelong resident of Tupelo, and a very successful grain and cattle farmer. He farmed in Jackson and Woodruff Counties for over 50 years. Michael loved improving his land.
He dearly loved his family, and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. His grandsons were the apples of his eye.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Dee and Jessie Wood, and Richard and Sue Hurst.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debbie Stewart Wood; one daughter, Lori Ray and husband, Doyle, of Gosnell; one son, David Wood and wife, Debra of Tupelo; and his grandsons, Taylor Page of Marion, and Trace and Garrett Wood, both of Tupelo. Also surviving are one brother, Jim Wood and wife, Ann of North Little Rock; nephews, Jim Wood III of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Brandon Wood of Maumelle; a host of cousins and other family; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations to a charity of your choice.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Tim Meredith, Tim St. Clair, Mike Osier, Carl (Weasel) Fortune, Dwayne Runyon, and Jim Hardin. Honorary pallbearers will be John Shoffner, Jerry Kendricks, Thomas Huie, Brooks Kyle, and Huey Smith.
