Mrs. Marie Juanita (Dangeau) Dunavion was born July 28, 1931, and spent the largest part of her life loving and working for God. She won her battle against Satan and her body on Thursday, September 7, 2017, when her beloved Jesus gathered her into His arms and carried her home. Waiting to greet her there were her much loved husband, Lavell and son, Lowell; her parents, Sessie Mae (Ellis) and Clarence Stayton Dangeau; two sisters, Muriel Chalk and Retha Bounds; three brothers, Arvil, Newman, and little Johnny Dangeau; and many other relatives and special friends.
Now in his presence, she patiently waits to be joined by her three daughters, Sherri McEwen, Susan Johnson and husband, Loman, and Gayle Caraway and husband, James; one son, Russell and wife, Lavonda; her grandchildren, Harold (Jay) Odom and wife, Amanda, Maggie McEwen, Codie Odom, Aaron Johnson and wife, Jessica, Stephanie and Samantha Dunavion, Star Caraway; her great-grandchildren, Gracie, Harold (Bub), and Coy Odom, Lylian Porter, Miriam Bracey; two brothers, Leroy Dangeau and wife, Betty, and Orvind Dangeau, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She loved God first, her family next, her church family, her chosen family at the Senior Citizen’s Center, and her special Happy Quilter’s Family (both past and present), with all her heart. She had a passion for those who served and spent her days with the Happy Quilter’s making patriotic lap quilts for service men and women, and quilts for those who were ill, had lost their homes to fire, or those who needed an extra dose of love that they could hold in their hands. Marie was fondly known as Granny by many related only by heart and she will be sorely missed. If you knew her, please know that she loved you and she has gone ahead to greet you when you arrive. She always had enough love and laughter to go around and there was always room for one more.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tuckerman First Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be at Barnishaw Cemetery.
