Obituary for David Jones, Sr.

David  Jones, Sr.
Mr. David Ray Jones, Sr., lifelong resident of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the age of 71. He was born May 7, 1949 in Newport, the son of Earl Toler and Vivian (McCutchen) Jones.
Mr. Jones graduated from Newport High School in 1967, and worked as a stocker at Kroger, retiring after 40 plus years of service. He enjoyed playing golf at Village Creek, League bowling, and gambling. He was an avid outdoorsman, and could often be found hunting, camping, or boating. He loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals, but his greatest love was that which he had for his family.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye (Rice) Jones; three brothers, Ben, B.W. , and Earl Jones; and his parents.
He is survived by two sons, David Jones, Jr., and wife, Gidget of Scott City, Missouri, and Justin Jones and wife, Tish of Jackson, Missouri; two daughters, Milissa Wheeler and husband, Ral, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Jennifer Plummer and husband, Bryan of Newport; three brothers, Bill Jones and wife, Joan of Gosnell, Tommy Jones and wife, Jan, of Remmell, and Scott Jones and wife, Debbie, of Newport; two sisters, Muriel “Woody” Milligan and husband, Thomas, of Newport, and Carolyn Sue Jones of Hot Springs; eight grandchildren, Alexandria Hodge and husband, Joseph, Chantelle Kelso; Chelsea Enderle and husband, Craig; Kaitlynn Addington and husband, Dayton, Jade Plummer, Chase Plummer; Nathan Plummer, and Clayton Jones; three great-grandchildren, Rynleigh Hodge, Miles Hodge, and Colton Enderle; his cat, Big Hoss; a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Coffeyville Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are David Jones, Jr., Justin Jones, Ral Wheeler, Bryan Plummer, Chase Plummer, and Dayton Addington. Honorary pallbearers are his Kroger Family, and his grandchildren.
