Obituary for Edith Partee

Mrs. Edith (Davis) Hightower Partee, 90, of Newport, died Thursday, April 5, 2012. She was born January 12, 1922 in Baxter County, the daughter of William Columbus and Flora (Anderson) Davis.
Mrs. Partee worked many years at Spencers and Van Atkins as a seamstress. She was a member of the Church of Christ, and loved sewing and gardening. Mrs. Partee especially enjoyed being outside, and loved playing with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gene Hightower; her second husband, Audley Partee; six brothers, Fred, Ike, Cap, Richard, Jack, and Baby Boy Davis; five sisters, Maggie Wright, Cora Britten, Willie Burnett, Annie Haas, Scena Stark, and Mildred Harrison; three grandchildren, Jerry Douglas Cloud, II, Michael Hightower, and Rebecca Hightower; and a step-daughter, Connie Cash.
Mrs. Partee is survived by one son, Gene Hightower and wife DaVenee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two daughters, Jackie Hoyle and husband Samuel E. of Austin, Arkansas, and Sandra Smotherman and husband Ronnie of Newport; two step-sons, Audley Partee, Jr., and wife Barbara of California and Dale Partee and wife Gloria of California; four grandchildren, Delores Cloud, Danny Ray Williams, Allen Hightower, and Heather Hall; five great-grandchildren, Jerry Douglas Cloud III, Jacob Hightower, Aspen Hightower, Aven Hightower, and Ashtyn Hall; two former sons-in-law, Gene Barbee and Danny Williams; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
Pallbearers are Doug Cloud, Danny Williams, Allen Hightower, Jacob Hightower, Kenny Davis, and Wayne Davis.
