Obituary for Elton Harold Loftin

Elton Harold  Loftin

Mr. Elton Loftin of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the age of 73. He was born October 5, 1947 in Etowa, Arkansas, the son of Robert Harold and Juanita “Short” (Stokes) Loftin.
Mr. Loftin was a 1965 graduate of Grubbs High School. He worked many years at Capitol Wire, later working alongside his wife, Shelia, in their lawn service. He enjoyed woodworking, and raising and riding his horses. Mr. Loftin was tough as nails. He was a wonderful husband, father, papaw, and friend. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, and he absolutely adored his wife, Shelia, never leaving her side.
Mr. Loftin was preceded in death by two sons, Christopher Loftin and Jeff Loftin; two brothers, Robert and Hubert Loftin; one sister, Mae Lynn England; one step-sister, Wilma Kinard; his parents, and his step-mother, Jean Kinard Loftin.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shelia (Atkinson) Loftin of the home; four daughters, Kathy Odom and husband, Mike of Diaz, Karen Metzger and husband, Wayne of Newport, Lorrie Tubbs and husband, John of Tuckerman; and Christy Beshears and husband, David of Elgin; two stepsisters, Nora Gibson and husband, Johnny of Newport, and Barbara Tubbs of Newport; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends. The family would like to thank his special caretakers, Marcia Carter and Wanda Steen with Arkansas Hospice.
Friends may visit at the funeral home, Monday 10:00 a.m. until service. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Jackson’s Newport Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Sandhill Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Stevie Jiles, Garrett Tubbs, Robbie Loftin, Scott Loftin, Greg Wagster, and Dennis Conway. Honorary pallbearers are Brody Kagen, Tyler Loftin, David Beshears, Wayne Metzger, John Tubbs, and Michael Odom.
