Obituary for Oscar Dennis Hayden

Oscar Dennis  Hayden
Mr. Oscar Dennis Hayden of Newport, Arkansas, departed this life of Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born March 21, 1933, in Newport, the son of Ransom E. Hayden and Odie Mae (Free) Hayden.

Mr. Hayden was a graduate of Newport High School. He then dedicated twenty years to the United States Navy. Mr. Hayden worked in HVAC while in Little Rock and returned to Newport in 2000.

Mr. Hayden was of the Christian belief and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Newport, where he was active in his men’s Sunday School class. He was very dependable and was an active volunteer in prison ministry. Mr. Hayden was also a Navy Post Commander for the VFW.

Mr. Hayden was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Random Hayden, Jr., Bill Hayden, Richard Hayden, and Charles “Milton” Hayden; and three sisters, Margaret Northcutt, Mae Martins, and Virginia Hagberg.

He is survived by one brother, Carroll Hayden, Sr. and wife Carol Joyce, of Freeman, Missouri; one nephew, Carroll Hayden, Jr.; nieces, Belinda Hayden and Vanessa Hayden; a host of other nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of friends.

Visitation is Friday, April 7, 2023, at Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Greg Dills officiating. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
