Obituary for Sharlie Carter

Sharlie  Carter

Mrs. Sharlie Fay (Evans) Carter of Newport, formerly of Hardy, departed this life on Thursday, December 31, 2020, at the age of 79. She was born December 14, 1941 in Buckeye, Arizona, the daughter of Earl B. and Willie (Huffman) Evans.
Mrs. Carter was a homemaker, with a great love of family. She loved every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carter was a selfless example of a Christian lady, always putting others needs before her own. She was an optimist, who loved to smile, laugh, and find the good in every situation. She was a great blessing to her family and friends.
Mrs. Carter was an avid reader, who loved to cook for her family. She was a member of Highland Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Jackson Carter, Jr.; one sister, Marquetta L. Bell; and her parents.
She is survived by four children, Kimberly Fears and husband, Mike, of Bradford, Terry Carter of Bradford, Jeffery Carter and wife, Carolyn of Ash Flat, and Dane Carter and wife, Becky, of Cherokee Village; eight grandchildren, Crystal Hayes and husband, Greg, Angela Fears, Joshua Fears and wife, Shay, Chasten Carter, Jake Carter, Christopher Carter, Stephanie Carter, and Dereck Carter; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and a lifetime of friends.
Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Brown’s Chapel Cemetery at Union Hill.
A special thanks is extended to her granddaughter-in-law, Shay, for the excellent care she has given Mrs. Carter.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Wendell Bell, Joshua Fears, Landen Fears, Ian Talley, Billy Taylor, and Chasten Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Dane Carter, Mike Fears, Colby Fears, Shawn Bible, and Brian Fears.
