Thelma Ruth Hooper of Bay Village moved to her heavenly home Sunday, December 6, 2020, at the age 88. She was born November 18, 1932, in Beedeville, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles Douglas and Margaret Rushing Reynolds. She was a 1950 graduate of Vanndale High School. She married Ray Hooper and the couple enjoyed 58 years together before his death in 2008. Thelma was retired from the Johansen Shoe Factory in Harrisburg where she worked until it closed. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking, flowers, reading and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Bay Village Assembly of God where she served as Sunday School Secretary for many years.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Joy Kemp of Dundee, Mississippi. She is survived by her three children, Stephen and Eddie Hooper and Debbie Faulkner of Bay Village: four grandchildren, Bubba (Sheila) Faulkner of Harrisburg, Angie (Ricky) Carter of Trumann, Arkansas, and Wesley and Colton Hooper of Bay Village: several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren: one sister Theda Payne of Memphis, Tennessee, a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Jackson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Mabry and Rev. John Dikeman officiating. Burial will follow at Bay Village Cemetery. Friends may visit the funeral home from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Bubba Faulkner, Ricky Carter, Wesley Hooper, Colton Hooper, Clint Carter, and Tyler Carter. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Payne, Doug Kemp, Mark Thompson, Paul Horner, and the men of Bay Village Assembly of God Church. Arrangements are by Jackson’s Funeral Home.
